Bell Towers, churches, chapels, quarters, villages, towers, palaces, spread everywhere. This is the Valtellina del Terziere Superiore to discover; a land rich in art and culture, a testimony of its past of agitated historic and religious events.
This atmosphere suspended between the past and the present resounds all along the territory, leading us to discover charming brief periods of time full of history, with a glamour unchanged in time.
Tirano, main capital city of Mandamento, presents itself to the eyes of the tourist with historic and architectonic vestiges of absolute importance: from the remains of the Sforza walls and the doors to the Palaces: Marinoni, Parravicini, Quadrio, Andres, Salis, Merizzi, Buttafava, Torelli.
Even the smallest village of the Terziere Superiore is worth a visit: from Vervio to Mazzo, the old and important religious parish, arriving to Teglio, from where the name Valtellina (Tellina Vallis) derives: every Municipality bears witness of a mountainous identity deeply rooted and still very well conserved.
The artistic tradition is characterised by the meeting and the fusion of influences of the most varied and distant origins: from the Longobard, the Celtic, Carolingian to the Padanian or the influences of Central Italy, from the Oriental to the Middle East one or, because of the bordering through the Orobico area, the Venetian up to the Northern Central European influence.
