How To Get To Media Valtellina

In auto:
- From Milan, at the exit of the highway, take the Trunk Road 36 Milan-Lecco-Colico, and proceed with the Trunk Road 38 up to Tirano (165 km);
- From Valcamonica, following the Trunk Road 39 through the Aprica Pass, to arrive to Media Valtellina;
- From north, coming from Switzerland and passing through the Bernina Pass, one can get to Tirano;
- Maloja Pass, which from St. Moritz (Switzerland) leads to Valchiavenna to get to Media Valtellina;
- Spluga Pass (from Switzerland), then to Chiavenna to get to Media Valtellina;

During the summer period one can also pass from:
- Mortirolo Pass (from the province of Brescia), then Mazzo di Valtellina;
- San Marco Pass (from the province of Bergamo), then Morbegno, Sondrio and Tirano;
- Gavia Pass (from the province of Brescia) which leads to Santa Caterina Valfurva, then to Bormio and Media Valtellina;
- Stelvio Pass (from the province of Bolzano) down to Bormio and then to Media Valtellina;
- S. Maria Pass (from Switzerland) which connects with the road which from Stelvio goes down to Bormio and then to Media Valtellina;
- Forcola Pass (from Switzerland), then SS38 of Stelvio up to Media Valtellina;
- Gallo Pass (from Switzerland), then the SS38 of Stelvio up to Media Valtellina.

With public transport:
- From Milan, the train Milan-Lecco-Sondrio-Tirano serves the area;
- From St. Moritz, the Retica Train arriving at Tirano serves the area.

By plane:
It is possible to get to the Valtellina from the main airports of Lombardy linked to the Stazione Centrale of Milan with comfortable shuttles:

- Milan - Malpensa;
- Milan - Malpensa;
- Bergamo - Orio al Serio.

During the next winter season the tourists arriving at the airports of Orio al Serio and Malpensa and the Stazione Centrale of Milan (groups but also single passengers) will find a bus service which will drive them to Valtellina and vice versa.
The service will run from 2nd December to 15th April.
Travelling time for Orio al Serio: about 2hrs 30 mins
Travelling time for Malpensa: about 3hrs.
