Bell Towers, churches, chapels, villages, towers, and palaces scattered everywhere: the localities and the villages of this land hold extraordinary treasures and all are at the disposal of those who wish to discover them. This is the Valtellina of the Terziere Superiore, a land rich in art and culture, bearing witness to its past and the agitated historical and religious events. This atmosphere suspended between the past and the present resounds all along the territory, leading us to discover enchanting glimpses rich in history and a charm which has remained unaltered. Tirano presents itself to the tourist with historical and architectonical vestiges of absolute importance. In fact Along the roads of Tirano one can visit: from the remains of the Sforza Walls and the Doors to Palaces: Lambertenghi, Marinoni, Parravicini, Quadrio, Andres, Salis, Merizzi, Buttafava, Torelli, to the churches and museums of absolute historic-cultural importance, among which the Basilica of Our Lady of Tirano, the Xenodochio of  Saint Perpetua and the Ethnographic Museum of Tirano.
Even the smallest village of the Terziere Superiore deserves a visit: from Vervio to Mazzo, an ancient and important religious Parish. The Oratory of Saint Ippolito and Saint  Cassiano and the Bellaguarda Castle at Tovo S. Agata; arriving at Teglio, from which the name of Valtellina (Tellina Vallis) is derived, with the Besta Palace, the “De li beli miri” Tower, the Churches of Saint Eufemia and Saint Peter, the “l’Antiquarium tellinum”; at Aprica which, today an important tourist resort, during the Middle Ages was an important transiting road for merchants, soldiers and pilgrims who used to stop at the Xenodochio of Saint Peter before continuing the journey: not to be missed are the Ethnographic and Naturalistic Museum; at Bianzone the Besta Palace, the Parochial Church of Saint Siro and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Piano, at Grosotto the sanctuary of the Beata Vergine delle Grazie and the “fountain of the four guns”, at Grosio the Park of Rupestrian Incisions, the ruins of the Visconti Venosta castle with the church of Saint  Faustino, the Museum of the Visconti Venosta villa and the house of Cipriano Valorsa. Every Municipality bears witness to an mountainous identity deeply rooted and still very well conserved, characterized by the meeting and the fusion of the most varied influences even of distant origins: The artistic tradition is characterised by the meeting and the fusion of influences of the most varied and distant origins: from the Longobard, the Celtic, Carolingian to the Padanian or the influences of Central Italy, from the Oriental to the Middle East one or, because of the bordering through the Orobic area, the Venetian up to the Northern Central European influence.
