The Terziere Superiore of Valtellina suits your needs.

Delimited on the south by the chain of Orobie Alps and to the north by the Rhaetian Alps, it offers a splendid and varied natural spectacle, where the visitor can admire the diversifications of flora and fauna of the natural environment which is still intact. In addition it offers a variety of landscapes and the possibility of mountain practice which is nearly unlimited. The extension in length and height which goes from a few meters height of the bottom of the valley to three thousand meters of its peaks is a spectacle in itself.

 

A big part of the territory of Valtellina is made up of protected areas in which one can do unequalled naturalistic excursions;

 

The scene is occupied primarily by the Stelvio National Park, the vastest of all the Alps (135,000 hectares) which develop amongst the provinces of Sondrio, Brescia, Bolzano and Trento and which you can visit through several itineraries which are opportunely highlighted.

 

The Orobic Park extends itself on the northern side of the Alps having the same name, from an average altitude of 900 metres up to the ridge, on a surface of 44 thousand hectares. An Alpine Eco-Wildlife observatory has been set up inside the Park. It is a vast area (20 hectares) delimited in its borders, and within which unwinds a didactic-naturalistic equipped itinerary.

 

Trivigno is a vast mountain grazing area made up of meadows and woods rich in vegetation and fauna, uncontaminated nature which offers suggestive strolls either on foot or with a bicycle. 

 

Pian di Gembro, at an altitude of 1350 m, is a Partial Botanical Nature Reserve which dates back to the last glaciations (about one million years ago).

 

The naturalistic area Le Piane which is found upriver of Tirano between Lovero and Sernio is an oasis of nature where we can observe a variation of riparian surroundings, which lead back to four typologies, depending on the distance from water: the dry strip, the riparian wood, the cane field and the aquatic environment.

The Grosina Valley, a wonderful valley in the greater part still unknown to the tourist, almost isolated without any permanently inhabited village.

 

Prato Valentino and Combolo with its 2900 m height, situated a bit higher from the point of arrival of the ski lifts of Prato Valentino, from where one can enjoy a breath-taking view over the entire valley.

 

The area of mount Masuccio with an equally beautiful mountain lake dominates Tirano with its peaks which reach up to a height of 2816 m.

 

The Mortirolo, a wide basin with meadows and woods found at an altitude of 1800m, with peaks which almost reach the height of 3000m, is a captivating summer destination with the lake and the splendid mountains.
