The journey of the perfumes and tastes of Valtellina is that which mostly assimilates the image of these places with a picture or a fairy tale. Therefore, lending oneself to an enogastronomic tour which, together with the most typical products of the tradition of Valtellina can reveal also all the endowments of its famous vineyards is a pleasant obligation.
 
The geographical position of Media Valtellina, protected all around with a mountainous wall, has relegated the vineyards to limited zones of the sunny coast, sometimes planted at an altitude of 800 metres. The scenery of the terraces sustained by small stone walls is spectacular. The type of grapes which produces the typical wines of Valtellina is the “Nebbiolo”, recognised in 1968 as (DOC) Denomination of Controlled Origin, subdividing the production in two main wines: the Valtellina and the Valtellina Superiore, better known for its traditional denominations Maroggia, Sassella, Grumello, Inferno, Valgella.
The top of the range of the oenology of Valtellina is the “Sforzato” or “ Sfursat”, a wine which accompanies well the most seasoned cheeses.
 
To prepare an eno-gastronomic tour we cannot fail to think about the countless wine producing houses with their famous wine cellars, where one can taste the most famous wines accompanied with a typical snack, after having visited the most famous  “terrace” cultivations.
