Legislative Decree no. 196 of 30th June 2003 Code on the protection of personal data. Art. 7.
Right to access personal data and other rights
1. The data subject shall have the right to obtain confirmation as to the existence or otherwise of personal data concerning him/her, regardless of it not yet being recorded, and communication thereof in intelligible form.
 
2. The data subject has the right to obtain information regarding:
a) the source of the personal data;
b) the purposes and methods of processing;
c) the logic applied to the processing, if the latter is carried out with the help of electronic instruments;
d) the identification data concerning data controller, data processors and the representative designated in accordance with Article 5 par. 2;
e) the entities or categories of entities to whom the personal data may be communicated or which may become aware of the existence thereof in their capacity as designated representative in the State’s territory, data processors or persons in charge of the processing.
 
3. The data subject has the right to obtain:
a) the updating, rectification or, where interested therein, integration of the data;
b) the cancellation, anonymization or blocking of data that has been processed in breach of law,  including the data the retention of which is unnecessary for the purposes for which it has been collected or subsequently processed;
c) the certification that the operations referred to in paragraphs a) and b) have been notified, even with regards to their contents, to the entities to whom the data was communicated or circulated, with the exception for the case where this requirement proves impossible or involves a manifestly disproportionate effort compared with the right which is protected.
 
4. The data subject has the right to object in whole or in part:
a) on legitimate grounds, to the processing of personal data concerning him/her, even though it is relevant to the purpose of the collection;
b) to the processing of personal data concerning him/her, for the purpose of mailing of advertising materials or direct selling or else for the performance of market or commercial communication surveys.
